Responsibility for the future

Sustainable building with ROMA

ROMA takes responsibility for future generations. ROMA is the first manufacturer of sun shading systems to transparently disclose the environmental impact of its products and processes to its partners. With the EPDs, the IBU comprehensively recognizes the highest quality standards of ROMA systems in terms of future-proof, sustainable construction.

An Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) summarizes the environmentally relevant information on the life cycle assessment of a product over the entire product life cycle. To do this, a manufacturer such as ROMA must provide detailed data for its sun shading solutions: From the extraction of raw materials to the manufacture and use to the dismantling and recycling of its products. EPDs are based on international standards and are verified by independent auditors before publication by the IBU (= Institut Bauen und Umwelt e.V.).

"EPDs make sustainability measurable and comparable," says Friedrich Gülzow, EPD project manager at ROMA. "This honest disclosure of all ingredients is unique. ROMA is the first sun protection manufacturing company in the world to publish EPDs." Incidentally, this is also the first time that EPDs have been issued for such extensive products.

Sustainable building with ROMA

With the EPD certificates for Roller Shutters, External Venetian Blinds and Textile Screens, ROMA provides reliable proof that these products are expressly recommended for environmentally friendly construction. As a partner of the certification systems for sustainable building - including DGNB, LEED and BREEAM - ROMA creates maximum transparency in the life cycle assessment of building projects.

Building owners want more and more sustainable construction. In many cases, EPD-certified systems are also specifically required in tenders. ROMA specialist companies have the advantage here that exaggerated price discussions fade into the background when proven sustainability is explicitly required. ROMA was the first manufacturer to transparently prove the sustainability of its products, thus triggering a rethink in the sun shading industry. Future generations will benefit from this rethink.
