For a natural indoor climate, ROMA uses high-quality materials such as glass fiber, polyester and special fabrics for its Textile Screens. These high-tech fabrics differ in their absorption, reflection and transmission of light. Thanks to a wide range of colors, ROMA Textile Screens, also known as vertical awnings, can be individually designed. Light colors reflect light and heat rays particularly effectively, while darker shades allow a better view to the outside. All Fabrics are easy-care, weather-resistant, quality-tested in accordance with ISO 9001 ff. and also highly tear-resistant.
The ROMA Fabrics Advisor and the ROMA Fabrics Finder web application provide a comprehensive overview of all available fabric types with technical details. ROMA specialist partners will also be happy to advise you personally on your selection.
Textile Screens from ROMA combine high functionality with modern aesthetics. They provide effective sun and heat protection and create a pleasant room climate without air conditioning - while maintaining the view to the outside. The opening factors of a Fabrics determine how much light and visual contact with the outside is possible - the higher the value, the more transparent the Fabrics, the lower the value, the greater the privacy, glare protection and darkening.
Thanks to different materials such as glass fiber, polyester, acrylic or special fabrics, they offer a wide range of design options, are weather-resistant, easy to clean and durable. There is a suitable solution for every building project and every requirement.
Fabrics are made of PVC-coated glass fiber yarn in a serge weave. They are designed for a long service life and are particularly easy to clean. Serge Glass Fibre Fabrics are particularly suitable for use in zipSCREEN.2 and therefore for zipper-guided systems.
Fabrics are made from high-tenacity polyester yarns that are pre-stretched - i.e. stretched before further processing - and fixed with PVC. This process ensures that the Fabrics retain their shape, do not warp and are also extremely durable.
The Acrylic Fabric is made from spun-dyed acrylic yarns and is completely PVC-free. By dyeing the fibers directly in the manufacturing process, the colors remain intense and resistant to weathering for a particularly long time.
The PVC-free Fabrics Twilight Comfort, for example, combines a pleasant textile character with effective summer heat protection and harmonious transparency. Thanks to its odor-neutral properties and the OEKO-TEX Made in Green certificate, it also stands for a sustainable, pollutant-tested solution with a high-quality appearance.
Different types of fabric are used for vertical awningsdepending on the requirements for privacy, transparency, material character and function. The following overview shows the most important differences between glass fiber, polyester and Acrylic Fabric at a glance.
For special requirements, ROMA offers Textile Screens with special fabrics that are specifically tailored to special areas of application. Whether integrated viewing window for a better view or insect screen fabric to protect against flying insects - these solutions expand the possible uses of Textile Screens in a practical way.
Which Fabrics is best suited to your requirements depends on factors such as opening factor, privacy at the window, glare protection, outward visibility and the desired material.

A high opening factor for Fabrics means more transparency for your vertical awnings and more visual contact with the outside, but generally less glare protection. A low opening factor reduces transparency, but usually improves glare and privacy protection. At 0 % opening factor, no view to the outside is possible.
Fabrics with a higher opening factor are particularly suitable for a better view to the outside. They combine pleasant sun and heat protection with harmonious visual contact with the outside. Typical ROMA fabrics for this purpose are Serge 10 %, Serge 5 %, Soltis Harmony 88 or Twilight Comfort 4 %.
Fabrics with a lower opening factor are particularly suitable for high glare protection. They reduce disruptive solar radiation and create pleasant lighting conditions in the room, such as the Serge 1% fabrics made of Glass Fibre Fabrics.
For bedrooms or conference rooms, opaque or darkening fabrics such as Serge 0 %, Soltis Opaque B92 or Twilight Comfort 0 % are particularly suitable. Fabrics with an opening factor of almost 0 % do not allow a view to the outside.
