Life Cycle Assessment Data: Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) at ROMA
Clarity builds trust—a principle that is crucial in the construction industry. Environmental Product Declarations play an important role for us in this regard. With Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in accordance with EN 15804, ROMA discloses the environmental impacts of its Roller Shutters, External Venetian Blinds, and Textile Screens.
Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) at ROMA
EPD stands for “Environmental Product Declaration.” These Environmental Product Declarations from the Institute for Construction and the Environment (IBU) describe in detail the resources, energy, and raw materials used in a ROMA product. To this end, the IBU analyzes the entire life cycle of building products—from manufacturing through installation to future dismantling and subsequent recycling. Any product can be submitted to the IBU for certification—but not all receive the coveted declaration.
ROMA was the first manufacturer in the sun protection industry worldwide to adopt EPDs, thereby sending a clear signal of transparency and responsibility. In 2024, our EPDs for Roller Shutters, External Venetian Blinds, and Textile Screens underwent recertification. At the BAU 2025 trade show in Munich, the IBU presented ROMA with the new Environmental Product Declarations containing the life cycle assessment data.
