Sustainable building: Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) at ROMA

Clarity creates trust - a principle that is crucial in the construction industry. ROMA's sustainability program aims to shape the future responsibly by taking ecological, economic and social aspects into account. Environmental Product Declarations play an important role for us in this.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) at ROMA

EPD stands for "Environmental Product Declaration". These environmental product declarations from the Institut für Bauen und Umwelt e.V. (IBU) describe in detail which resources, energy and raw materials are used for a ROMA product. To this end, the IBU analyzes the entire life cycle of the building products, from manufacture and installation through to dismantling in the future and subsequent recycling. Every product can be registered with the IBU for certification - but not all of them receive the coveted declaration.

ROMA was the first manufacturer in the sun shading industry worldwide to rely on EPDs and thus set a clear signal for transparency and responsibility. In 2024, our EPDs for Roller Shutters, External Venetian Blinds and Textile Screens underwent another recertification process. At the BAU 2025 trade fair in Munich, the new environmental product declarations with the life cycle assessment data were handed over to ROMA by the IBU.

You can use our EPD certificates for these certification systems:

  • DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council)

  • LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)

  • BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology)

  • BNB (Assessment System for Sustainable Building)

  • QNG (Quality Seal for Sustainable Buildings)

You can download the ROMA EPDs in our download area under Certificates. You can find more on this topic here.
