ES-SO launches with a new corporate identity to strengthen its mission of promoting the sun protection industry
For more than 15 years, "ES-SO = European Solar Shading Organization" has been the umbrella organization of the national solar shading associations in Europe. From the very beginning, it has made it its mission to focus on the benefits of solar shading in the building sector. With success, as the industry was not only able to achieve record sales of plus 40% last year. Sun shading on buildings will also play a key role in helping the EU achieve its ambitious climate neutrality targets for the whole of Europe by 2050.
The new corporate identity simultaneously draws attention to the global challenges of global warming and to a planet that is crying out for lessCO2 emissions. Through research, education and industry engagement, the ES-SO also draws the attention of all policy makers to the importance of solar shading and its management to achieve the ambitious EU climate targets.
Peter Winters, founding member and former President of the ES-SO, comments: "When we started our joint work in 2005, we were just 6 founding members. Today, our organization comprises 18 European countries. Climate protection is an important issue in the EU, and both industry and end consumers are increasingly demanding 'green solutions'. Our task was therefore to convey these wishes in our new logo."
Ann Van Eycken, ES-SO Secretary General, adds: "Our new logo projects this core message into the future. It can be reduced to three key words: Architecture, Sustainability and Wellbeing. It communicates at a glance to policy makers, architects and planners that solar shading is the greenest and most sustainable solution to protect buildings from overheating. It contributes to the well-being of occupants and brings character and emotion to architectural design. We are all increasingly confronted with environmental issues such asCO2 emissions, pollution and loss of biodiversity. Sun shading makes an important, positive contribution to the sustainable improvement of our future, and our new corporate identity reflects precisely this positive thinking."
Explanation of the visual elements
In collaboration with the renowned and well-known Italian agency AGENZIA YES!, the new brand was adapted to the digital age. The three-dimensional representation of the letter "E" symbolizes our organization. The lines, reduced to the bare essentials and almost sober, take up the design language that sun protection elements incorporate into the architecture. The color blue stands for the positive effect of daylight on the body and the increase in productivity. Green symbolizes climate neutrality, sustainability and energy savings through solar shading. Yellow represents the sun and therefore the greenest energy source of all. But be careful: this green energy must be carefully controlled in order to protect life on our planet. Our ancestors already knew this, and sun protection can be traced back to the ancient Egyptians or ancient Islamic and Persian cultures. Even there, everyone was aware of how to protect buildings from overheating and how sun protection can enhance our everyday lives through emotions.
